Joshoji Temple is said to have been founded by Hirano Nagakatsu. The temple's principal image of worship is the Wooden Amidanyorai Statue (early Edo period). The front gate is believed to have been a gate relocated from Fushimi Castle. The main temple building which was built in 1651 is a Designated Cultural Property of Nara, with an Irimoya-styled hip-and-gable roof and decorations on braidings, transoms, and kaerumatas (frog-leg struts) using fine engraving techniques.
